Books
A book is a group of written, printed, or blank pages somehow fastened along side one another – more specifically for my purpose here, it is a written or printed literary work. I am a lover of the written word, printed or otherwise. I always have been. I’ve not read an unusually large amount of books over the years, but those I have read, I’ve wanted to remember.
Many times in the past I wished I’d kept a record – a “reader’s journal” – of all I’ve read. One reason is because I wanted to see, without trying too hard, how great the number would be over the years. That wasn’t the most important though. Primarily, I want just to spend a few moments reflecting on what I’d read: try to understand the author, examine the plot a little more without being in it, pen a few thoughts about the whole thing; characters, likes and dislikes, favorite line or quote, etc. – to write what I would say were I asked about one in particular.
I am sorry to say that I never accomplished my goal, but it’s never too late to start. So … I start here. My intention is to simply put down a bit about the book just completed. I want to remember my thoughts at the time I finished reading the book. I know I never will unless I get them out quickly.
Now when I am asked, “Have you read any good books lately?” – I will have a much more substantial recall with which to discuss them.
Discussions and comments are not only allowed on my “book reviews”, but most welcome. I eagerly await them. I enjoy recommendations, too!
